Security arrangements have been tightened at the Pashupatinath Temple complex in Kathmandu, Nepal, to manage the large influx of devotees celebrating the festival of Haritalika Teej on Bhadra 29. Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force Nepal have mobilized personnel to oversee security, rescue operations, healthcare, drinking water, and traffic management.
All four gates of the Pashupatinath Temple were opened early at 3:15 a.m. According to police reports, around 9,000 devotees had completed their worship by 7:00 a.m., while approximately 3,000 individuals remained lined up for entry.
To assist pilgrims, security forces are operating information desks, locating missing persons for family reunions, running health camps, and managing local traffic. Security monitoring has been enhanced through the use of closed-circuit television cameras, drones, and communication technology. Security personnel, including plainclothes officers, uniformed male and female police, and disaster rescue teams, are maintaining vigilant oversight across the area.

Nepal Police has deployed over 2,500 personnel operating in two shifts, with approximately 1,250 officers working per shift. Additionally, plainclothes personnel have been stationed throughout the temple grounds and surrounding areas to prevent any unwanted activities during the festival period.
The Armed Police Force Nepal has deployed nearly 800 personnel since 2:00 a.m. to handle devotee management, maintain peace and order, and offer medical support. A medical team with female doctors and an ambulance from the Nepal APF Hospital in Balambu has been stationed on-site. The APF headquarters has also supplied drinking water tankers, while a specialized rescue unit equipped with divers has been placed on standby along the Bagmati River near the Ram Temple.
Patrols have been intensified in neighboring areas, including Tilganga, Jay Bageshwori, Guhyeshwori, Bishwarupa Temple, and Gaurighat. A joint command post has been established within the temple complex to facilitate coordination between security agencies. Armed Police Force Co-Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and convenience of all visiting devotees.
