Bhaktapur — Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate Rukesh Ranjit has won the parliamentary election in Bhaktapur-1, defeating Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party leader Prem Suwal according to the final vote count.

The final results show Ranjit securing 33,436 votes, while Suwal received 28,147 votes. The outcome marks the end of Suwal’s parliamentary representation from the constituency.

Other candidates in the race included Nepali Congress candidate Kiran Nyaupane, who received 4,282 votes, and CPN-UML candidate Som Prasad Mishra, who secured 3,721 votes.

Earlier vote counts had shown Suwal with 6,118 votes and Ranjit with 9,804 votes before the final tally confirmed Ranjit’s lead and eventual victory.

Bhaktapur-1 has long been considered a political base of the Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party. The final result indicates a shift in voter preference in the constituency, bringing the Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate to victory.
