Following the formation of a powerful government led by Balendra Shah with a two-thirds majority through elections after the youth generation's movement in Nepal, this change has sent a new political message worldwide. Similar movements were observed in countries like Madagascar and France immediately after Nepal's uprising.
Meanwhile, speculation has peaked that the Balen Shah-led government is preparing to change the heads of the Nepal Police and the Nepali Army to make its operations more effective. In particular, social media is rife with speculation that Dr. Manoj Kumar KC, who played a significant role in investigating the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, is being sought as the Inspector General of Police, and Anup Jung Thapa as the Chief of Army Staff.
However, despite the 'media trial' and debate on social media about appointing the Inspector General of Police or Army Chief, the government has not made any official decision or initiated any process to remove or replace them. Currently, the Nepali Army is led by Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, while the Nepal Police is led by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.
Regarding such discussions, some analysts claim this is merely a rumor spread to put pressure on the government or conduct a media trial, while others say that although the government has wanted to change leadership for a long time, it has been unable to proceed due to legal and administrative procedures.
Such debates and speculation on social media regarding the heads of the country's sensitive national security bodies are viewed seriously. In Nepal's history, whenever the government has tried to make unexpected decisions regarding Pashupatinath, the President, and the Chief of Army Staff, it has always led to severe political and constitutional crises. However, there are past examples of the Inspector General of Nepal Police being changed from time to time.
