Kathmandu - India and Uzbekistan have taken a significant step toward expanding strategic cooperation in the rare earth minerals sector. According to international media, both countries have agreed to strengthen their partnership to ensure the exploration, development, and long-term supply of mineral resources.
According to published reports, the rare earth sector was made a major priority of bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting held in the presence of Indian President Droupadi Murmu. In view of growing global industrial demand, both countries are expected to enhance cooperation to strengthen the mineral supply chain.
The analysis notes that the strategic importance of rare earth minerals continues to grow as they serve as essential raw materials for electric vehicles, advanced electronics, defense equipment, renewable energy systems, and the semiconductor industry.
According to experts, since the global supply of rare earth minerals relies on limited sources, developing alternative partnerships has become a priority for many countries. The India-Uzbekistan cooperation is expected to help make the supply chain more diverse and stable.
Efforts are also underway between the two countries to expand cooperation in energy, trade, technology, and industrial sectors. Analysts say the new partnership developing in the rare earth sector could contribute to further strengthening economic and strategic relations between South and Central Asia.
