The long-standing technological barrier between Android and iOS is undergoing a major structural shift. Samsung has officially integrated Apple's AirDrop support into its Quick Share ecosystem as part of the newly expanded One UI 8.5 beta, marking a significant milestone in seamless cross-platform interoperability.

Developed through an ongoing partnership with Android, this feature allows users to transfer files effortlessly between select Galaxy smartphones and Apple hardware. According to the company, this groundbreaking capability will be activated for recent premium models, specifically the Galaxy S25 and S24 lineups, alongside the 6th and 7th iterations of the Z Fold and Z Flip series.

Beyond breaking ecosystem walls, Samsung is breathing new life into its slightly older catalog by widening the reach of the One UI 8.5 beta program. Following an initial launch in March 2026, the testing phase has now been extended to include the Galaxy S23 family, the S23 FE, and the 2023 foldable lineup (Z Fold5 and Z Flip5). Notably, the budget-friendly A-series is making its debut in the beta roster with the inclusion of the Galaxy A36 5G.

Access to this software remains geographically targeted and device-specific. While the broader beta is live in the U.S., U.K., South Korea, and India, eligibility has strict parameters. For instance, testing for the A36 5G is currently exclusive to the Indian market, whereas the Fold5 and Flip5 updates are restricted to American and South Korean users.

Eager consumers can enroll in the testing phase via the Samsung Members application. As the tech giant prepares to roll out the program to additional hardware later this month, this update clearly signals a broader industry movement toward a unified, brand-agnostic digital ecosystem.
