This alert follows the circulation of a specific video report that authorities claim misinterprets the nature of an active criminal investigation.
At the center of the dispute is a case involving a "crime against life" registered against accused individuals KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak. According to police officials, the investigation is being conducted under the specific orders of the Supreme Court and directives from the District Attorney’s Office. The accused are currently under investigation while being held under the guarantee of a reputable person.
Law enforcement’s concern was triggered by a video titled "Oli-Lekhak’s Investigation: A Sham?" published by the YouTube channel SidhaKura on April 12, 2026. Police state that the nearly 13-minute segment contains unfounded claims and misleading narratives that target responsible police officers and distort the facts of the legal process.
Police authorities emphasized that their inquiries remain independent and strictly adhere to the legal counsel provided by the District Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu. They warned that spreading unverified and biased information creates public confusion and undermines the integrity of the judicial system.
Officials have urged all media platforms and individuals to refrain from creating or broadcasting unauthenticated information. The department reiterated its commitment to a lawful investigation, noting that further updates will be provided through official channels as the case progresses.
