An election police officer has died after falling from a steep cliff in Baitadi while returning from an official training program, according to police officials.
The incident took place Tuesday night at around 8:30 pm when 32-year-old Prakash Chand, a resident of Dasharathchand Municipality–4, was heading back after completing training at the Chamkhali playground in Ward–5. During the return route, he reportedly slipped and fell from the Kharkate Sallerī cliff area.
Police say the fall was severe, with Chand dropping roughly 250 meters down the slope. Authorities confirmed that he died at the scene.
District Police Office Baitadi spokesperson and Police Inspector Baldeb Badu confirmed the death and location details. The case has been recorded as a fatal fall during return from duty-related training. Further procedural steps are being handled by local police.
Such field deployments and training movements in hilly terrain often involve night travel, which officials say requires added caution going forward.
