Celebrity chef Santosh Shah has been released from police custody after posting bail equivalent to the total financial claim filed against him. The release was confirmed by Kathmandu Police Range spokesperson, SP Pawan Bhattarai, who noted that the chef was let go on a recognizance bond, with the obligation to present himself whenever summoned as investigations proceed.
The legal trouble for the internationally recognized chef stems from a dispute surrounding the acquisition of an eatery located in Gairidhara. A commercial complaint was brought forward by Shakuntala Adhikari (Thapa), who alleged that Shah failed to clear the complete transaction amount after taking ownership of the restaurant, resulting in legal action under banking offense charges.
The arrest took place on Friday, when a police team acted on a warrant granted by the Kathmandu District Court. Shah was apprehended at Ramanand Chowk, located in Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-8, Dhanusha.
Alongside the celebrity chef, 58-year-old Narayan Sah Sudi of Karjanha Municipality-9, Siraha, was also taken into custody by the authorities. Following the bail settlement, Sudi has also been granted his release. While both individuals are currently out of detention, local authorities emphasize that the financial inquiry remains active.
