The Government of Nepal has decided to accept a grant assistance of 20.7 million US dollars, equivalent to approximately 2.80 billion Nepalese rupees, from the United States government aimed at enhancing domestic health services.
The decision was finalized during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Balen Shah in Kathmandu. The executive body endorsed a wide range of critical proposals spanning health, infrastructure development, administrative reforms, and statutory amendments.
To expedite major infrastructure and security projects, the Cabinet granted approval for the use of national forest land. The sanctioned projects include the Kamala-Dhalkebar-Pathlaiya road stretch along the East-West Highway, the Gajard Khola Small Hydropower Project, and the 40-megawatt Balefi Khola Hydropower Project. Approvals were also extended for constructing training academies, company headquarters, and border security posts for the Armed Police Force.
Furthermore, the government approved the submission of three key bills to the Federal Parliament. These legislative proposals seek amendments to the Animal Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act 2055, federal civil service legislation, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2074.
In major administrative appointments, Joint Secretary Aabha Shrestha Karna was promoted and posted as the Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province. Additionally, Dr. Jagadishwar Karmacharya was promoted to secretary and assigned to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.
These executive decisions reflect the government's ongoing effort to balance developmental infrastructure needs with administrative efficiency and social law reforms across the country.
