Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister, has issued a stern warning to the incumbent administration against undermining the hard-won democratic achievements of the people. Speaking at a calendar launch organized by the All Nepal Women’s Association (Revolutionary), Dahal asserted that while his party is willing to support constructive government initiatives, any attempt to erode constitutional rights or national interests would trigger a forceful retaliation from both parliament and the streets.
The veteran leader specifically highlighted growing concerns over potential government restrictions on student rights and employee trade unions. Dahal urged these groups to remain vigilant, stating that the rights secured through immense sacrifice must not be tampered with. Addressing the ongoing debate on constitutional amendments, he clarified that his party would only support changes that empower marginalized groups—including women and Dalits—and strengthen the federal structure, rather than those intended to centralize power.
Regarding the recent "unusual and extraordinary" election results, where the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured a significant mandate, Dahal maintained that the victory of any party under the current republican framework is a victory for the system he helped build. He announced a fast-tracked organizational strategy to complete party unification at the local level within days, followed by a general convention within six months. Dahal concluded by urging cadres to focus on self-reflection and ideological training, emphasizing the need to collaborate with fellow travelers of the peace process to safeguard the sovereign rights of citizens.
