In a major boost for domestic sports commercialization, state-owned operator Nepal Telecom has officially partnered with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as the official telecom partner for the upcoming third season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The collaboration aligns with national directives to promote domestic sports while expanding institutional support for cricket following the tournament's recent recognition by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Under the newly inked memorandum of understanding, signed at Nepal Telecom’s central office by Managing Director Sangeeta Pahadi (Aryal) and CAN General Manager Utsav Dhungana, the telecom provider will extend comprehensive connectivity and brand support for the marquee tournament, scheduled to run from Kartik 9 to Mangsir 5, 2083 BS at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Highlighting the corporate strategy behind the alliance, Nepal Telecom Chief Technical Officer Dilli Ram Adhikari emphasized that the sponsorship fulfills corporate social responsibility objectives while strengthening brand equity and solidifying institutional structures for national cricket. Echoing these sentiments, CAN General Manager Utsav Dhungana noted that partnering with a prominent national brand creates broader pathways for professionalizing the sport and improving the long-term financial livelihoods of local players.

As preparations continue for the Kirtipur-based tournament, the strategic alliance between Nepal’s primary telecommunications provider and its national cricket governing body sets a sustainable blueprint for corporate sponsorship in public sports infrastructure.
