High-profile accused Haji Salman will remain incarcerated in the district jail after his legal team unexpectedly withdrew his bail application at the Special ADJ (SC/ST) Court in Ghaziabad, dealing a significant setback to his prospects for release.
The procedural development unfolded on November 5, 2026, when the court of Special ADJ Jitendra Mishra was slated to hear final arguments regarding the matter. However, before proceedings could formally begin, Salman’s counsel chose to pull back the bail prayer. Consequent to the defense deciding not to press the motion, the court formally rejected the application, effectively maintaining his continued detention.
As reported by journalist Deepak Kumar Tyagi, the bail request had been pending since its initial filing on August 25, 2026. Describing the court proceedings, complainant's advocate Choudhary Ajay Veer Singh stated that despite the matter appearing on the cause list across multiple previous dates, conclusive arguments could not take place due to various procedural delays. When the case finally reached the stage for decisive arguments, the defense’s unexpected withdrawal brought the bail proceedings to an abrupt halt.
With the judicial rejection of the petition recorded, Salman’s legal representation will need to reassess its strategy, while the accused remains in judicial custody pending future court submissions.
