Amissa Parajuli, a prominent Gen-Z supporter of the CPN (UML), has officially approached the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau in Bhotahity to report a campaign of severe online harassment. The legal move comes after she was subjected to character assassination, dehumanizing insults, and explicit rape threats on various social media platforms. According to reports from News Agency Nepal, the abuse escalated sharply following her public criticism of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli’s arrest, which she labeled as unconstitutional.
The activist stated that her public videos were being manipulated and misused to fuel a targeted cyberbullying campaign. Beyond just verbal insults, the nature of the threats has turned violent, prompting her to seek state protection and accountability for the anonymous users involved. Parajuli emphasized that while she has merely exercised her right to political expression without wrongdoing, the digital backlash has crossed legal and ethical boundaries.
Despite the intensity of the online assault, Parajuli noted that her family remains steadfast in their support, understanding that her statements remained within the bounds of legitimate discourse. By filing a consolidated complaint against those misusing her content and issuing threats, she aims to challenge the culture of digital violence. The case now rests with the Cyber Bureau to identify the perpetrators and address the growing trend of gender-based cyberbullying in political spheres.
