Tackling a growing environmental concern in Koshi Province, Duhabi Municipality is set to receive a major infrastructural boost for its public sanitation needs. A modern waste management facility, backed by a significant financial grant from the Government of India, is officially underway following a cornerstone ceremony on Sunday.

The project, carrying an estimated budget of 164 million Nepali Rupees, marks a critical step toward sustainable municipal hygiene in the region. According to a press release from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, First Secretary Narayan Singh and Duhabi Mayor Bed Narayan Gachhadar jointly inaugurated the construction site located in Duhabi Municipality-4, Sunsari.

Operating under the framework of a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), the local municipal office will oversee the complete implementation of the facility. Local leaders, including Mayor Gachhadar, welcomed the cross-border initiative, emphasizing its potential to permanently transform how the municipality handles its refuse while fostering long-term environmental sustainability.

This financial and structural collaboration highlights the ongoing multi-sectoral partnership between the two neighboring nations. As urban centers across Nepal continue to expand, such targeted infrastructural investments are expected to play a crucial role in maintaining public health and ecological balance in rapidly growing municipalities.
