Nepal Police Rescue Eight Girls from Spas and Hotels; Five Arrested
Kathmandu — Nepal Police have rescued eight girls from various spas, hotels, and entertainment venues in the Kathmandu Valley and arrested five individuals on charges of exploiting minors for sexual purposes, according to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau.
Police said the operation was carried out after receiving credible information that underage girls were being forced into prostitution and sexual exploitation in exchange for financial gain. Acting on the tip-off, teams from the bureau conducted coordinated raids at multiple locations, including spas, dance bars, clubs, guesthouses, and restaurants.
During the raids, eight girls were rescued and transferred to protective care. Authorities confirmed that the victims were minors and had been coerced into exploitative conditions.
The arrested individuals include residents of Kathmandu, Sindhuli, Salyan, Bajhang, and Kailali districts. Investigators allege that the suspects played key roles in recruiting, harboring, and exploiting the girls through organized arrangements within entertainment establishments.
Police officials stated that the arrests were made after sufficient evidence indicated the involvement of the suspects in organized exploitation. Further investigation is ongoing under extended court authorization to identify additional networks and individuals connected to the case.
The incident has once again drawn attention to persistent risks faced by girls in urban entertainment sectors and underscored the need for stronger enforcement, community vigilance, and child protection mechanisms.
