Oli Calls Prasai ‘Progressive’, Labels Current Government ‘Regressive’

KATHMANDU — KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister ousted by the Gen Z movement and current Chairman of the CPN-UML, has described businessman Durga Prasai as “progressive” while branding the Sushila Karki–led government as “regressive.”

The UML is holding a large anti-government demonstration at Bhrikutimandap tomorrow, Mangsir 6. Amid this preparation, Oli sharply criticized the government for the recent arrest of Prasai.

Ironically, Prasai was arrested during Oli’s own tenure as Prime Minister. In turn, Prasai has repeatedly accused Oli of being “mega-corrupt” and allegedly operating illicit funds abroad.

This cycle of accusations between the government and the opposition has further intensified Nepal’s already heated political atmosphere following the Gen Z uprising.
