She Quit Miss World, Claiming She Was Treated “Like a Prostitute”!

In an unprecedented move, Miss England 2024, Milla Magee (24), has become the first contestant to withdraw from Miss World mid‑competition, alleging she was treated like a “performing monkey” and even “like a prostitute” during events in Hyderabad, India.
Magee flew to Hyderabad on May 7 to take part in publicity activities ahead of the pageant. Though initially the pageant organizers cited “personal reasons,” Magee later revealed in an interview that she felt humiliated and objectified. She described being asked to entertain wealthy sponsors—two contestants per table of six—for the entire evening, a practice she found deeply degrading.
“We were expected to sit with them for the whole evening… they made me feel like a prostitute,” Magee said, adding that her attempts to highlight her advocacy for CPR awareness were ignored.
She also described strict requirements to wear ball gowns and full makeup around-the-clock, including at breakfast, and recalled an incident where an official clapped in her face to get her attention, which she described as highly disrespectful.
The organizers, including CEO Julia Morley, denied the allegations and claimed Magee left due to a family emergency concerning her mother’s health. They released video clips showing a festive atmosphere and Magee smiling at events. However, her mother insisted that Milla arranged her own return flight and received no help from the organization.
Angie Beasley, the director of Miss England, stated that Magee’s well‑being was their top priority and that her decision to return home was respected and supported.
Magee’s withdrawal has reignited global discussions about the ethics of beauty pageants, with many questioning whether such competitions are still relevant in a world increasingly focused on dignity, equity, and authenticity. Her bold move has forced the industry to confront uncomfortable truths and consider much-needed reforms.
